ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Two people are in jail after a brawl inside the Phoebe Putney emergency room.

Police say 22-year-old Angel Wheeler stabbed 19-year-old Willie Lanier and when they got to the hospital, Lanier's family attacked Wheeler.

Several nurses and a doctor were shoved in the melee.

Quantavious Thomas is charged with simple battery.  Thomas' mother says he was upset over his friend being stabbed.

"They didn't know if he was living or whatever and they were taking their time.  Because two of his other friends had died previously in the drive by over there.  He thought he was fixing to lose another friend, and it did something to him," said Cynthia Thomas.

Thomas said she doesn't think it's fair her son was the only one arrested.

Lewis' knife wound isn't serious and his girlfriend is charged with reckless conduct.
