Fletcher to run for Ward III City Commission

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

From the Fletcher campaign-

BJ Fletcher, local businesswoman, announced today that she is seeking the office of Albany City Ward III Commissioner, currently held by Christopher Pike. 

Fletcher is the owner of BJ's Country Buffet, Director of Sales at Hilton Garden Inn, and an ADICA Board member.

Fletcher ‘s campaign will focus on much needed service improvements within Ward III, as well as Economic development opportunities that impact the betterment of the City.  "We live in the Good Life City.  It is filled with hardworking, good people that try to make the most of that "good life." 

"I know so many personal people in that ward," she said Monday to WALB. "And so many of it is small mom and pops. And I take that serious. A lot of them have not been able to move forward in many years because of this economy and if I can bring something new to the ward that will help us and the community, it in many ways is a bigger pressure on me and I'm ready for the challenge."

"I want to do my part to make all of our lives better in Albany.  The people of Ward III want a leader that will represent their needs and bring attention to solving the problems of Ward III.  I bring my integrity and strong work ethic to the office of City Commissioner and to leading the citizens of Ward III."

Fletcher has been a local business person in Albany for the past 12 years.  Managing and owning local restaurants and downtown business enterprises.  She has been an active ADICA Board member since 2010, and was recently appointed to the Citizen's Transportation Committee.

Fletcher has strong views about her responsibilities as Ward III Commissioner.  "If the voters elect you to do a job, DO IT!  If given the opportunity to represent the people of Ward III, I will be available and accountable 24-7 to take this job on as I have all others, with all of my heart and both of my sleeves rolled up."

    Preliminary investigations revealed the female victim fell from a billboard while conducting routine maintenance, and suffered fatal injury, according to Lowndes County Coroner Austin J. Fiveash.
