Information from Darton State College

ALBANY – The Darton State College Wetherbee Library recently held its 13th Annual Poetry Contest for junior and senior high school students in Southwest Georgia.

Rhett Ragan, of Randolph Southern School, won first place in the senior division, and Khashaad Johnson, of Randolph Southern School, won first place in the Junior Division.

More than 150 students from 15 counties entered a poem in this year's contest. The first place winner in the senior division is awarded a full tuition scholarship for the 2013 fall semester.

Below is a list of all the poetry contest winners.

Senior Division First Place: Rhett Ragan, Randolph Southern School, "Untitled"
Second Place: Alexcie Barry, Westover High School, "I think…I am?"
Third Place: BreeAnna Faircloth, Westover High School, "Childish Wishes"

 Junior Division
First Place: Khashaad Johnson, Randolph Southern School, "Growing Up"
Second Place: Qeyouna Edwards, Albany High School, "Beauty"
Third Place: Carrie Turner, Randolph Southern School, "The Swimming Hole"
