ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany police are investigating an apparent stabbing that happened at a residence in the 400 block of Gaines Avenue in Albany, around 2:30am on Monday.

22-year-old Angel Wheeler stabbed her boyfriend, 19-year-old Willie Lewis in the upper portion of the chest area with a knife during an argument.

Officials say Lewis was treated for non-life threatening injuries at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital and then released.

Police responded to the hospital just after the stabbing occurred to break up a group of folks causing a disturbance. No word yet on the exact reason for the gathering.

Wheeler is charged with reckless conduct and was transported to jail.

We will provide more details as they become available.
