A Barwick City Councilman is facing charges after he was accused of stealing a city sign.

The Thomas County Sheriff's Office says Walter Yost took the "Central Park" sign from the park and the flag pole from the park.

"Barwick's just like any other municipality. The Thomas County Sheriff's Office, every dime we spend is budgeted. Unfortunately we don't have the extra money to go around replacing things. We try to take care of our equipment and the assets we have and these small municipalities are strained even more than we are. So when we were asked to assist we gladly jumped in," said Captain Steve Jones of the Thomas County Sheriff's Office

Yost is charged with interference with government property.
