Let's clean up!

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Keep Albany-Dougherty Beautiful's Great American Cleanup event is now underway.

County Commission Chairman Jeff Sinyard and City Manager James Taylor joined other elected officials, City and County department heads and government employees this morning in front of the Government Center as they set the example for the community.

KADB leader Judy Bowles thanked these leaders for forming the model team in removing unsightly litter from the entire city, and joined with commissioner Jon Howard in the cleanup.

The annual community-wide litter pick-up event will take place Saturday, as volunteers from all walks of life join environmental hands to become an agent of positive change.

You can join Commissioner Jon Howard's team at 9:00 a.m. in the 2500 Block of Sylvester Road (Cherokee Drive and Sylvester Road). Last year, 21.46 tons of litter was picked up from over 140 miles of roadside.

KADB implements a hands on, grass roots education program that involves citizens from all walks of life.

Each year thousands of volunteers donate hundreds of thousands of volunteer hours, which change environmental attitudes and behaviors that will impact future generations.

Keep Albany-Dougherty Beautiful is a joint venture of the Albany City Commission and the Dougherty County Commission. The volunteer members of the commission are appointed by the City and County and represent all segments of public interest.
