ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Thursday, Phoebe Putney Hospital honored former workers, former patients and others through the annual Phoebe Paver Project.

The theme this year is a Celebration of Life. Testimonials were given from people who donated to the project on behalf of a loved one.

116 new pavers were laid down on the pathway, many engraved with names. Some paid tribute to the birth of a child. Others were in memory of those who have passed away.

"That is a lasting tribute that they can make. That brick will stay there. Anytime they feel like they want to come out and view it, that is a lasting tribute, a special gift you can give to anyone," said Chiquita Evans.

The paver project is in its 20th year. In all 2,500 pavers have been placed in the pathway to the hospital.
