MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) -

A Moultrie man is recovering after he was shot in the lower back outside his home.

Around 11:00AM, Moultrie Police were called to 9th Avenue Southeast and 11th Street.

Police don't know much about the circumstances, but James Slaughter told police he was taking out the trash when all of a sudden, someone shot him.

His friend Edward French took him to Colquitt Regional, where he is expected to survive.

"I was in the house watching TV and I heard something, someone came knocking on my door, so I took him to the hospital," said French.

No arrests have been made. If you have any information about this shooting, call the Moultrie Police Department.
