Douglas shooting suspect arrested

DOUGLAS, GA (WALB) -

One day after 33 year old Marcus Jerrell Zachery was shot multiple times, Douglas officers, the GSP, and Coffee County deputies arrested 22 year old, Arthur Tommy Fletcher III for the crime.

They say that Zachery was shot on College Avenue, and that Fletcher was charged with Aggravated Assault.

Zachery is being treated at Memorial Hospital in Savannah.

The Douglas Police Department issued this release Wednesday:

On 04/16/2013 Officers from the Douglas Police Dept. responded to a 911 call at 506 S. College Ave.

On arrival Officers found 33 year old, Marcus Jerrell Zachery had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Zachery was transported by EMS to Coffee Regional Medical Center and then to Memorial Hospital in Savannah.

Zachery is currently being treated for his injuries. On 04/17/2013, 22 year old, Arthur Tommy Fletcher III was charged with Aggravated Assault for the shooting of Marcus Jerrell Zachery.

Other charges are pending. He was taken into custody by Officers from the Georgia State Patrol, the Coffee County Sheriff's Office and the Douglas Police Dept. without incident.

    The Lee County fire chief is issuing a warning tonight about how hot playground equipment can get during the summer. Chief David Forrester said some equipment can reach more than 150-degrees this time of the year.
