ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Some South Georgia students were out in the job field today. Albany Technical College hosted their spring career fair. The career fair is what some students may need to find that new job.

Albany Technical College student, Denika McClay has been out of work and job hunting for the past six months. Soon, she will graduate from the school's Dental Assistant program.

She came to Albany Technical College 15th annual career fair to get a jump start on her career after graduation. Being out of work has been difficult, but she knows her hard work will pay off.

"It's kind of upsetting at times, but when I think about it, it could be worse. I am enrolled in school and going for what I want to do. When I get out of school, I can land the job that I'm looking for," said Denika McClay.

She has been to Georgia's Department of Labor and says many of the jobs listed are in other areas, like Atlanta and Valdosta. She says it's discouraging, but she's trying to keep a positive mindset.

"Thinking positive and I do a lot of reading and studying and just surround myself around a lot of positive people," said Denika McClay.

McClay has applied for many of the jobs here and is hoping that she will land a gig soon.

"Within the next 2 to 3 weeks, I should have a job," said Denika McClay.

She left the career fair with some potential job prospects. She says Chick-fil-A is very interested in hiring her and she hopes to hear back from them soon.

Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, Turner Job Corp and Mediacom were some of the companies at career fair.
