Facebook threat shots terrorize family

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A facebook threat may have led to gunfire in South Albany. One mother is terrified because a bullet fired into her home barely missed her young daughter.

Tamika Clay points to where a bullet flew through her window Monday night. She fears for her safety so much she doesn't want her face on camera. But she does want to share the story of what she calls a nightmare.

"I was in my kitchen cooking dinner. It was me, 5 of my kids and my cousin. When I heard the gunfire go off, I grabbed my 3 and 4 old but I didn't think they were shooting at my house," said Clay.

But they were. It was around 9:15 when those shots rang out. One round entered the bedroom of her 10 month old daughter. "Then I seen my daughter my cousin, and my 10-month old baby sliding on the floor saying they were shooting through the window and a bullet almost my 10-month in the head. That's very scary," said Clay.

You can see where the bullet traveled through the window and the bedroom door. It pierced through the hallway mall and lodged in the wall of this back bedroom. Amazingly no one was struck. "I have small kids. There is no way I can sleep at night not knowing what's going to happen."

As for the shooter, police don't have any suspects but Clay believes it may have stemmed from a threat her son received on Facebook. "Someone sent my son a text on Facebook saying I know you stay on Colquitt, don't get comfortable over there. But my son don't even stay here." But now she's planning to move and soon.

"That could've been a 10-month-old. She could have been dead or hurt. We didn't deserve to get our house shot up." Fearful but thankful that reckless gunfire didn't kill anyone. Hopeful the person who did it will get caught. Albany Police are investigating the shooting.

If you saw anything suspicious in the 1100 block Colquitt Avenue Monday night call Crimestoppers at 436-TIPS.
