Ogeltree hoping to power Lady Cavs to region title

Darton softball sophomore Kelsea Ogeltree has followed up her strong freshman season with an even stronger sophomore season and points to a change in her workouts as the main reason.

Ogeltree leads the conference in batting average with a .449 batting average and is tied for 3rd in home runs with 10, helping the Lady Cavs to their 2nd place position in the conference right now.

The Marietta native has put more focus in her lower body training which she says has resulted in more power and a better base when it comes putting the ball into play.

"It's probably more important to have legs than just arms because if you're out front on a ball then you're screwed because you're just hitting with arms but when you stay behind the ball and you put your legs and arms into it. Its gone. Even if you're a left hand hitter and you can't hit strong, you're going to hit it at least to the fence if not over the fence," said Ogeltree.

Ogeltree and the rest of the Lady Cavs play a double header at Georgia Military on Tuesday.
