KAUFMAN COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

Authorities investigating the shooting deaths of Kaufman County D.A. Mike McLelland and his wife appear to have narrowed their focus on a former justice of the peace prosecuted last year by the D.A.'s office for theft. Eric Williams was arrested Saturday morning on a charge of making a terroristic threat. Police have searched his home. No suspects have been named in the two deaths.

Williams was questioned by investigators hours after the McLellands were killed.

"They did a gun residue test and I gave them my cell phones so they could get all the information they wanted," Williams said.

Multiple Dallas area media outlets are reporting that Williams will be charged in relation to the deaths of Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland and his wife, and prosecutor Mark Hasse.

Friday officials searched William's home in Kaufman County as part of the investigation into the slayings of McLelland and assistant D.A. Mark Hasse. Hasse was gunned down in the parking lot of the Kaufman County courthouse.

Williams was arrested and booked into the Kaufman County Jail early Saturday morning on charges of making a terroristic threat. Records show he was also charged with two charges of insufficient bond. His bond was set at $3 million, $1 million for each charge.

Saturday evening, federal officials executed a search warrant at a storage unit in Seagoville, a suburb of Dallas about 15 miles west of Kaufman. According to sources, the unit that officials were searching was rented on behalf of Williams. They also state that 20 weapons and a Ford Crown Victoria Sedan were seized from the unit.

Authorities say that they have not officially named Williams as a suspect in either case, and records show that no charges have been filed.

Williams was prosecuted by Hasse and McLelland last year for stealing three county computers. He confessed to the thefts in a taped interview with investigators. Williams was given probation in the case but lost his license to practice law.

We are continuing to follow the developments in this case and will have the very latest posted on KLTV.com
