ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Getting a driver's license can be frustrating and time-consuming on a good day. Computer problems are making it worse for Georgians.

The Department of Driver Services experienced a statewide computer outage Tuesday. At the Albany office late in the afternoon, Derek Morris left without a new license after waiting for nearly 7 hours. "Oh, I'm supposed to be at work right now. I was supposed to be there at 4:00, and when you get here at 9:15 you're definitely thinking you're gonna get done by 4:00," Morris said.

Apparently, the problem is with faulty network hardware, and DDS officials aren't sure when it will be fixed.

They remind you that some services are offered online. If you have to conduct business in person, check online at www.dds.ga.gov for an update on the computer situation first.
