Albany business owner urges thieves to just ask for help

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An Albany auto repair shop owner wants thieves to know how much they hurt the community.

After his shop was burglarized he tells the thieves just ask him for help rather than stealing.

Someone smashed the lock on the front door at T-N-C Auto in the 200 block of North Monroe about 2 o'clock Monday morning.

The crook then kicked in the office door inside and ransacked it.

The only thing stolen was souvenir African money from one of the owner's vacations.

"If you want something, ask somebody for something," said owner Eugene Thomas.  "Don't just break in and take from people. Really that's a hurting thing to do."

Eugene Thomas had to replace the locks on his two doors and will increase security at his shop.

He says he doesn't want crime to ruin his usually quiet neighborhood.
