Girls Inc. hosts wine market

DOUGHERTY CO., GA (WALB) -

Albany's premier wine tasting event is back and it helps make a difference for girls in South Georgia.

Girls Inc. is hosting the Wine Market Friday, April 12.  Girls Incorporated is a life skills program for girls ages 7 to 18.

The event includes wine tasting, food, music and a silent auction. Artists, like Gourdmaster Sam X, will also be there to showcase and sell their work.  "It's my first time and it's a privilege to have this opportunity. It's an opportunity to give back to the community," said Sam.

The event is Friday, April 12 from 7pm to 10pm at Stonebridge Golf and Country Club. Tickets are $50 in advance, and $60 at the event.

    Thomas County has been working all weekend to help community members prepare for the storm.  One way they're doing that is offering free sandbags for people who live in low lying areas that hold a lot of water.
