ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Sherwood Baptist Church had a groundbreaking ceremony Sunday to start building a new preschool and worship areas for children and youth.

They'll add on to their current two stories buildings and build two new 3-story buildings on the church grounds.

Pastor Michael Catt says these new facilities will help reach more people outside his congregation.

"We never build a building just for us. Because we always build it to say when you get here, there'll be a space and a parking space for you. Because we want to reach the next generation for Christ. Because of that, we always prepare for the people that are going to come," said Pastor Michael Catt.

The project has been in the works for about two years. The new facilities will be completed in about 14 months.
