Roadblock uncovers mobile meth lab

Posted: Updated:
LEE COUNTY, GA (WALB) -

UPDATE:

Two people were arrested in Lee County after deputies uncovered a rolling meth lab during a road block.

Officers found materials inside the trunk of a four door sedan during a road safety check at Cedric Street and Old Leesburg Road late Friday night. Dogs led deputies to the discovery.

Sheriff Reggie Rachals says it's roadblocks like these that help get drugs off the streets.  "It's very dangerous and it's a concern that everybody needs to be concerned with because it's highly dangerous it could kill folks. The officers put themselves in danger when they approach these vehicles and they don't know what they're approaching until it's discovered."

The hazmat team from A.D.D.U helped with the clean up.

The names of the two people, along with their charges have not been released.

Officers found it during a road safety check at Cedric Street and Old Leesburg Road.

Dozens of officers from various agencies in 12 counties that are part of the Southwest Georgia Traffic Enforcement Network set up roadblocks around Lee County Friday night. One of those roadblocks led to the discovery of the meth lab.
