Rain not so good to farmers right now

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

You don't often hear farmers asking for rain to go away, but some are asking it to come again another day right now.

Eddy Henderson says heavy rain so far this year has made it hard for his corn crop to sprout.

He actually had to run his irrigation system just a bit to soften soil that all the rain turned into hard clay.

He says any more heavy rain could hurt his crops.

"It would hurt me as far as Nitrogen in the soil. I'd lose it and too much water would cause leaking of the nitrogen, so I'd actually lose my fertilizer with too much rain," said Henderson.

Henderson says all of his corn should sprout properly and he's predicting a good year for his crop.
