ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The city of Albany is encouraging business owners to move downtown.

City Commissioner Jon Howard read the city's proclamation to explain their efforts to provide more opportunities for low-income business owners.

The city has an 18 month downtown incubation program that offers classes and rent relief for business owners.

Officials say the program is to encourage more business owners to move back into the downtown area.

"You get to meet other people who are in the same situation you are. So you can share your things, the knowledge that you're picking up and share customers too," said Gail Morrill, Co-owner of Gabe Bridal store.

Graduates of the program were awarded Friday to conclude Community Development Week in the city.

You can get more information about the city's program at www.albany.ga.us.
