ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany State University celebrated their 110th anniversary Friday.

The day started with a Founder's Day Convocation. The theme was Embracing Change and Investing in our Future. Keynote speaker Dr. Sonya Taylor Acree is a 1990 graduate of Albany State University. She spoke about change and the importance of overcoming unwanted changes in life.

"My story, other alumni, and Joseph Holley gives them inspiration to know that we all triumph through difficult times. We all have obstacles, but once you face those obstacles, your potential can be realized," said Dr. Sonya Taylor Acree.

After the convocation, the school gathered at the burial site of the schools founder, Dr. Joseph Holley for a memorial ceremony. Other Founder's Day events included a Fish Fry and the Alice Coachman Relay for Life Kick-off.
