VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Valdosta State University inaugurated its 9th President today.

Dr. Bill McKinney has been on the job since July.

But today, dignitaries including University System Chancellor Hank Huckaby, state lawmakers, and city and county leaders attended a two hour investiture ceremony.

It ended a week of events celebrating President McKinney's inauguration.

"Leadership must be found throughout the organization indeed nurtured and encouraged, throughout the campus leadership is not the president's responsibility alone," said keynote speaker, Dr. George Mehaffy.

Tonight, there will be an Inaugural Ball to benefit student scholarships at the ballroom in the student union.
