Suspected child molester captured in Bainbridge

BAINBRIDGE, GA (WALB) -

The sports complex at the Bainbridge Boat Basin was quiet Friday, but on Thursday it was flooded with law enforcers looking for Isiah Perry.

Perry was first accused in December 2011 of molesting a 15-year old relative.

"We actually took her forensic interview and Isiah Perry's statement. During this time, Isiah Perry denied all allegations," said Investigator Brian Donalson.

But on September 23rd, the victim gave birth to a baby.

And she said Perry was the father.

"DNA was taken by myself from the baby and the victim and Isiah Perry. Once this was taken it was taken over to the GBI crime lab," said Donalson.

And this Monday, the paternity results were back.

"The DNA percentile was 99.9963. Which is not a mathematical certainty, but he is the father of the child," said Donalson.

The Decatur County Sheriff's Office took out warrants on Perry and investigator Brian Donalson spotted him outside of his Monroe Street home.

"As I passed by him, I looked in my rear view mirror and it was Isiah Perry. By the time I was able to turn around. He had fled from the area," said Donalson.

Investigators say Perry was dropped off at the bathrooms at the sports complex, before running into the woods.

Investigators say ACI dogs were brought in from Florida and taken on this path to help catch the suspect.

"Upon that perimeter being set up, I went through the woods with ACI, along with Hank Bagwell from the Seminole County Sheriff's Office and during this time we located Isiah Perry. He was laying in a shallow ditch," said Donalson.

Perry was denied bond and remains in jail charged with incest and child molestation.

The Decatur County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Bainbridge Public Safety, the Seminole County Sheriff's Office, and the Apalachicola Correction Institute in capturing Perry.
