Charity founders earn community service honor

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A South Georgia nonprofit organization received a special honor Thursday night from the Albany Sertoma Club.

Mission Change founders Todd and LaDonna Urick were named this year's Service to Mankind Award winners. The award is presented to those who serve the community and work to make Albany a better city.

LaDonna Urick says volunteers make the organization what it is. "Whenever we receive these awards, it's not about us. It's about all our volunteers that make this happen. It's about our awesome board that we have. It's just crazy because it was an idea that we feel like God really blessed us with and from there on we just share it with everybody else," she said.

The Uricks founded Mission Change in 2007. Their mission is to raise money and awareness for local individuals, causes, and organizations in need.
