ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An Albany man and woman are in jail, Thursday night, after police and drug agents bust a marijuana grow house while investigating another crime.

Albany police were called to a home in the 2300 block of Katy Court in reference to a home invasion.

When they looked inside, they saw marijuana throughout the home.

Officers called in the Albany Dougherty Drug Unit and agents found an elaborate grow operation in the attic.

Six plants were found along with other material to grow marijuana and piping to hide the odor.

Drug agents tell us it's unusual to find a grow house in such a tight living area.

"This is a real close neighborhood and the attic has been converted into a grow room. It was an elaborate setup up there, but it's kind of unusual to be this close by with neighbors literally a wall away from you," said ADDU Commander Major Bill Berry.

Agents say the street value of the plants is about a thousand dollars apiece.
