ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany State University students are working with Campbell soup Company and Second Harvest of South Georgia to fight hunger.

ASU Business ENACTUS team members will host a food drive at Sam's Club on Westover Boulevard Saturday from 10am to 4pm.

They hope to collect 5,000 pounds of food or enough money to buy that much during their "Let's Can Hunger" campaign. Donations will go to the food bank's kids' cafe to fight the growing problem of child hunger.

"Because we're feeding a meal that this may be the only meal these children get, and that's why we really encourage and are glad to have students like this, or individuals, participate in helping us with our children's hunger issues and our kids' cafe," said Jim Case, Albany Branch Director.

ASU students are competing in a national contest through ENACTUS, a service group of student, academic and business leaders.

Groups that collect the most food will win grant money for other service projects.
