ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

It's time for kids to grab their fishing poles and head to the Parks at Chehaw. The park will hold its Kids Fishing Derby Saturday from 9 till Noon. 

Anyone 15-years-old and younger can hangout and catch all the fish they want at Chehaw's 1-acre fishing pond.

Park officials say it's a great way for families to spend some time together.

"So many kids now days spend so much time inside the home, whether it's on the computer, tv, or watching movies. Great opportunity to get out in some beautiful weather we're going to have this weekend. Come out to Chehaw, have a family outing and enjoy nature," said Natural Resource Manager, Ben Kirkland.

The Derby is free for kids and the park will provide snacks and drinks.

The pond will open to the public for fishing starting Sunday through November with normal park admission and a 5 fish per person limit.
