School bus accident sends one to the hospital

The driver of a car that collided with a school bus Thursday morning is expected to make a full recovery.

Troopers say 34-year-old Arturo Zavala remain hospitalized but will be fine.

They say he was traveling down Georgia Highway 300 when a Mitchell County school bus driven by 62-year-old Betty Jo Ragan pulled out in front of him.

Zavala tried to avoid colliding with the bus. He hit the rear of the bus and the car slid up under the bus.

22 children were on the bus at the time of the crash.  They were all taken to a hospital in Camilla and have been released.

Zavala is at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany and is listed in good condition.

Troopers say Ragan will be cited for failure to yield.
