CORDELE, GA (WALB) -

A Kentucky man is behind bars in a Crisp County Jail Wednesday accused of impersonating a law enforcement officer.

Cordele police got multiple calls from the Best Western Inn Saturday from folks complaining about a man peeping into their rooms.

Officers arrested Chad Fields who told them he was a Drug Enforcement Administration agent. He continued to make that claim at the Sheriff's Office, even telling officers how to book him, but investigators say it's not true.

"The officer contacted the DEA and they have absolutely no record of his name, of him graduating, and of him even being a part of the DEA," said Sergeant Jeremy Taylor.

Fields is charged with criminal trespassing and impersonating a public official.
