MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) -

Moultrie police are warning drivers after a man tried to rob a woman as she sat at a red light.

Cops tell us the victim was stopped at the intersection of West Central Avenue and West Boulevard when a man opened her car door and tried to steal her necklace and purse.

She sped off with the man hanging on to her car.

Police warn drivers to be cautious on the roads, especially at night.

"You want to make sure your doors are locked and your windows are up. If someone approaches your vehicle that you don't know, don't roll the window down. If they start being aggressive towards you, like trying to break the window, try your best to accelerate and get out of there," said Investigator Dave Underwood.

Police say that crook may be responsible for a purse snatching last week outside a grocery store.

The only description is a skinny black man in his twenties.

If you have any information, call Moultrie police.
