MCLB holds boot camp for children

60 children got the chance to be Marines Tuesday.

Drill sergeants led the second annual little leatherneck boot camp at the Marine Corps Logistics Base this afternoon.  Kids ages five to thirteen, participated in obstacle courses, target practice and other activities. After it was all over they received a certificate and a dog tag.

Organizers say it helps the children understand what their parents do for our country.  "Whether they're serving as active duty, whether they're serving as a civilian marine, they're serving our country. And they're giving back. And to help them understand their roll and their job and to help them also have pride in their parents," said Paula Caserio, the MCLB family team building coordinator.

The event was open to all military families. After the boot camp a special ceremony was held to recognize April as the month of the military child.
