CRISP COUNTY, GA (WALB) -

A little boy's body was pulled from a pond Monday night after an accidental drowning in Crisp County.

Five year-old Serdarious Savage was playing with friends in the edge of a small pond not far from Drayton Lane in the northern part of the county. When he slipped under the water... The other children ran for help.

First responders rushed to the scene about 4:40 p.m. They urge parents to stress the danger of water to their kids, especially this time of year. Crisp County Chief Deputy Billy Hancock said, "Always warn your kids as we approach the summer days. We know that water is gonna be an attraction to them. Make sure that you caution them how quick someone can drown in just a small amount of water. It doesn't take a deep pond or a pool for someone to drown."

The Crisp County Sheriff's Office, Public Works Department and Fire and Rescue as well as the State Patrol and DNR responded to the scene. Members of the Lee County Dive Team recovered the little boy's body about 6:45.
