THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

A Coolidge woman will spend the next three years in prison and another 37 on probation for stealing tens of thousands of dollars from her former employer.

49-year old Kelli Benton was convicted last week.

She was fired from Southern Equipment Sales and Service in 2011.

The company suspected she was stealing and called the Thomasville Police Department which launched an investigation.

"Ms. Benton was actually using a company's, which she was employed by, using their checking account to pay her personal bills and for personal gain," said Lt. Eric Hampton.

Benton was also ordered to pay restitution of around $170,000.
