DOUGHERTY COUNTY, GA -

No charges have been filed in the weekend death of an Albany boy run over by a relative, but the Dougherty County Child Death team's investigation continues

3 year old Matthew Taylor died Saturday night.

Investigators say his uncle, 30 year old Thomas McDowell of Albany, was driving a Ford Explorer between 6:30 and 7 Saturday night, when he ran over the child in the yard near Charles Court.

That is the child's grandmother's home. She and the child's mother were inside. Police say McDowell was bringing another child to the home and struck the 3-year old as he pulled into the yard.

Prosecutors are awaiting toxicology reports on McDowell to determine if charges will be filed.

"That would be one of the things we are looking into," said District Attorney Greg Edwards.  "If there was any other intervening cause such as alcohol or drug usage to determine if there is a need to bring charges. And that's part of our investigation."

An autopsy was performed on the three year old Monday morning. Taylor suffered head, chest, and arm injuries. The head injury caused his death.
