TIFTON, GA (WALB) -

Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of a Tifton apartment fire. The apartment fire also caused a restaurant to be evacuated.

Fire officials were called to put out a fire to an upstairs apartment last night on Main Street in Tifton.

Investigators say the fire started in the living room. Charles Sumner was living in the apartment and was able to get out

His apartment sits above the La Cabana Mexican Restaurant.

"The apartment is totaled. Extensive smoke damage as well as structural damage in every room," said Investigator Dorminey McCrae.

Charles Sumner was transported to Tift Regional Medical Center for smoke in his lungs. No charges has been filled at this time.
