Thieves steal So. GA band's equipment

Dougherty County, GA - Thieves stole a plain white enclosed trailer early today that contained all the musical equipment of the band Highway 55. 

The theft happened at the home of the band's manager, Scott Ricks, on Byron Plantation Road.

Musician Cody Smith tells WALB News 10 that the Ricks heard their dogs barking around 4 am today.

When the band arrived at the home this morning, the trailer was gone.

Smith says thousands of dollars worth of equipment, including amps, guitars, drums, monitors, and sound boards was inside the trailer. 

"The support from local artists and musicians, we're kind of tight together and being able to depend on people like that when you're in a time of need is great and we're very thankful for it,"  said Band Member Cody Smith.

The band, which is performing at the State Theatre in Albany tonight, will perform as scheduled.

Smith says other local musicians are coming together to provide musical equipment for them to use.

Dougherty County Police are investigating the theft, and are asking for any leads you may have at 229-436-TIPS.

    Carolyn Edwards is now charged with Two counts of Simple Battery and two counts of Exploitation Of an Elderly Person. According to a report, the victim was an 87 year old patient. So far it hasn't been confirmed if Edwards was the caretaker of that man but that the incident did happen at Magnolia Manor in Moultrie.
