Investigators to question persons of interest in Albany Heights arson

Posted: Updated:
ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany Firefighters have suspects, but have not filed charges against anyone yet in an arson at Albany Heights apartments Tuesday night.

Investigators say three separate fires were set in the senior apartment building.

None spread enough to cause serious damage.

The apartment building has 61 tenants.

35 people had to evacuated during the fires.

Fire officials say their investigation is ongoing.

"We have a couple of people of interest, that we are interviewing," said Fire Chief James Carswell.  "We're also reviewing some of the downtown cameras to see if any of it got caught on tape. So the investigation is still very new in the process."

The Albany Heights building is more than 100 years old, and firefighters say if any of those fires had spread there could have been loss of life.
