A Turner County Sheriff's deputy has been fired after he was charged with tipping off criminal suspects.
65-year-old Clemmie Sanders was released from the Turner County jail today after he was charged with hindering the apprehension and punishment of a criminal and violating his oath of office, both of which are felonies.
Sheriff Andy Hester says a criminal suspect recently told him Sanders had been tipping her off about pending arrest warrants.
Hester says he fired Sanders yesterday after the GBI presented him with the charges.
Sanders was re-hired by the Sheriff's office five years ago.
