CAIRO, GA (WALB) -

The intersection of State Route 38/U.S. Highway 84 at State Route 112 and 17th Avenue in north Cairo will change Tuesday, April 2.

In conjunction with a $2.2 million realignment and reconstruction of this intersection, contractors for the Georgia Department of Transportation will be shifting traffic on State Route 112 to its new, permanent alignment.

Periodic lane closures will be required to complete the shift; flagmen will be present to direct traffic. All work is weather contingent.

Although the traffic shift will occur Tuesday, personnel and heavy equipment will continue working in close proximity to the roadway for some time to complete other aspects of the project.

Motorists are requested to drive slowly and exercise caution in this work zone.
