UPDATE: Moultrie Youth Center Burns

MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) -

Investigators rule out arson as the cause of a fire at the city Youth Center in Moultrie last week, but they're still not sure how the fire started.

Recreation Department Director Terry Peek says the blaze severely damaged the center and they are still unsure what they will do with it.

The structure will be boarded up until a decision is made.

The Moultrie Fire Department is searching for the cause of a fire at the city's youth center.

Witnesses heard what sounded like an explosion and then saw flames coming from the center in southwest Moultrie Monday night.

Recreation Department Director Terry Peek says the fire department's quick response saved the adjacent gym from suffering any damage.

Peek says the burned building will likely have to be torn down. The city will decide later whether to rebuild it.
