Information from Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital

A reenactment of a Ben Hill County plane crash is being featured on the Christian Broadcasting Network's "700 Club" on Tuesday, March 26.

The segment, filmed primarily on location in South Georgia, includes footage at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, as well as at the scene of the crash near Fitzgerald.

The program is about Joe Townsend who received life-saving care at Phoebe after surviving a 1996 plane crash that took the lives of his wife and two daughters.

In 2011, Townsend released a book about the tragedy called "Soul Survivor." Now his story of survival and determination has been documented for a national television profile.

Albany filming took place in February at Phoebe's main campus and Phoebe North Campus. Actors, a three-person film crew, as well as Phoebe employees worked together to make the shoot possible.
