ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Motorcyclists are gearing up for the third annual dice ride in memory of a Dougherty County Police officer killed in the line of duty.

Former Dougherty County Police Don Cheek asked county commissioners to be part of the event on Saturday, April 6th.

The ride celebrates the life of Lieutenant Cliff Rouse who was shot in December 2010 after responding to a robbery.

A pancake breakfast will be held at the American Legion Post on Gillionville Road before the ride. Afterwards there will be food, music, and auctions.

"It's a chance for the community to get involved with a great cause, to remember a great person and just have an all around great day," said former DCP Chief Don Cheek.

It's $25 per rider and all proceeds will go to the Georgia chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors which helps families and friends of fallen officers.

To participate in the event call the Dougherty County Police headquarters at 229-430-6600  or the American Legion, Post 30 at 229-435-5450.

The pancake breakfast is from 7:00am to 9:30am and registration for the ride begins at 9:00am.
