Narcotics agents seize $13K in undercover pot deal

Thomas County Narcotics Agents also arrested three men they say planned to traffic drugs to Florida.

Agents say 58-year old John Henderson, 31-year old Andrew Coatney, and 30-year old Michael Ross were looking to buy around four pounds of pot in Thomas County to sell in Panama City, Florida.

Agents set up an undercover deal with the Florida men Friday night at New Hope Road on U.S. 19.

They say this kind of buy is just as significant as busting a deal in which they confiscate real drugs.

"It's basically the same because we were able to seize the vehicles because they were being used to facilitate a drug transaction and of course the money was going to be used. So we seized the money and the vehicles so it's a good thing for us," said Narcotics Commander Kevin Lee.

Agents seized more than $13,000.

All three suspects are charged with criminal attempt to possess marijuana with intent to distribute.
