ELYRIA, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Two women from Ohio are facing felony drug charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized crack cocaine, worth approximately $3,000, during a traffic stop on the Ohio Turnpike Thursday.

Troopers stopped a Chevy Impala with Ohio registration for a marked lanes violation on the turnpike near milepost 135 at 4:17 p.m. Upon approaching the vehicle, troopers observed the passenger attempting to conceal contraband.

A probable cause search revealed a small amount of marijuana and crack cocaine with a street value of $3,000.

The driver, Kari Edgell, 24, and passenger, Samantha Paulus, 27, both of Wooster, were incarcerated in the Lorain County Jail. They have been charged with possession of crack cocaine, trafficking in drugs and complicity, which are second-degree felonies, along with tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony, and possession of marijuana, a minor misdemeanor.

If convicted, each could face up to 29 years in prison and up to a $55,000 fine.
