ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An east Albany clothing store was hit by burglars early Monday morning. Right now one of the suspects is on the run, but 19-year-old Devonte Emanuel Harp was caught hiding in a dumpster.

About 2:00AM, police were called to an alarm at Citi Trends off east Oglethorpe Boulevard. When they got there, the burglars took off running.

Albany police say the two suspects broke in the rear door of the building, stole clothes, and were heading out the door when a detective drove around to the back of the building.

He spotted Harp and another man running toward the woods, leading police on a foot chase for about 30 minutes.

They ended up finding Harp hiding in a dumpster behind the building. He was taken into custody for questioning.

"Broken stuff, damages, they went over to my damages area. They got a box and I guess they thought it was merchandise and it's damaged goods," said a store employee.

The other box contained several pairs of shoes worth less than $200.

That merchandise was recovered in the woods behind the store.

If you have any information that could help police, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers at 229-436-8477.
