Turkey hunting season has arrived

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Turkey season is officially underway in Georgia. Turkey hunters have risen over the last few years and have gained in popularity.

Biologists predict this year to be a very good season, with lots of birds to hunt in southwest Georgia. Wildlife officials have a word of caution for hunters to remember when turkey hunting.

"Don't wear anything red, white or blue. That's the color of a turkey gobblers head. People key in on those colors. So that's something to be careful of. Don't make turkey sounds when you see another turkey hunter," said John Denton.

The turkey limit is three per person in Georgia. Turkey season goes through May 15.
