ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Update:

Fire officials say they believe the deadly house fire at 717 West 4th Avenue was started accidentally and are not investigating the blaze as arson.

Albany Police say a 66 year-old woman was killed in the fire.

Battalion Chief Daniel Potter with the Albany Fire Department says units responded to the home around 9 am Sunday and found a large portion of it burning.

Fire officials say the blaze was quickly put out but upon investigation found the deceased woman lying in bed.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown but officials believe it started in the bedroom area.

The name of the victim and the cause of death have not yet been released.

We will have more information as it becomes available.
