UPDATE: Tift Co. man shoots son, himself

TIFT CO., GA (WALB) -

Tift County Sheriff's Investigators are currently investigating a shooting in a home near Brookfield. Deputies were called just after noon today.

They say that 69 year old Lee Harris shot son his 37 year old son David Harris in the arm. The elder Harris then shot himself in the abdomen. The motive was not known by authorities.

David was taken to Tift Regional Hospital with non life threatening injuries

Lee Harris was airlifted to Macon, and we have no word on his condition.

 The Tift Co. Sheriff's Office provided this news release-

Deputies responded to 96 Cotton Point Circle at 12:02 this afternoon where 69 year old Lee Harris shot his 37 year old son David Harris once in the upper arm. 

David Harris was transported to the Tift Regional Medical Center where he is being treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound. 

 Lee Harris then shot himself in the abdomen and was treated on the scene by EMS personnel. 

 Lee Harris was then transported by Air Evac to a hospital in Macon according to Tift County Sheriff Gene Scarbrough.

Investigators from the Tift County Sheriff's Office and GBI Crime Scene technicians remain on the scene continuing their investigation of the double shooting.
