Red Cross thanks blood donors

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

March is Red Cross month and the Albany Red Cross Community Donor Center wants to thank donors and encourage everyone to keep coming in to donate blood.

According to Red Cross someone in the United States needs a blood donation every two seconds.

Almost half of the nation's blood supply comes from the Red Cross and they always need more.

The Albany Community Donor Center is available for appointments throughout the week and ensures it will be a fairly quick and simple procedure.

"We know you're taking time out of your busy schedule and your busy life and you may have some apprehension, but it's a really simple, easy procedure. It doesn't take a lot of time and you get cookies and juice at the end. So please come out," said Lena Thomas, Team Supervisor of Albany Red Cross Community Donor Center.

To thank donors, Red Cross has a drawing for a $1,000 prize four times a year for donors in the southeast region.

If you're interested in making a donation you can visit www.redcrossblood.org for more information.
