DOUGHERTY COUNTY, GA -

A 92 year old Dougherty County man, injured in what his family believes was a robbery attack, is recovering.

Lake Ellis, a World War Two veteran, is still being treated at an Albany rehabilitation center, but his family says he is recovering well.

Ellis was found injured about 3:30 in the morning March 11th, wandering along Cordele Road.

Family members were told that Ellis was attacked by a gang of four men, and his story was repeated through the community on facebook and social media.

Dougherty County Police are still investigating, but have found no evidence of any attack.

Ellis' family said from his injuries they can tell he was in a fight, and are asking the community to help them find out what happened.  If you have any information call County Police or CRIMESTOPPERS at 436-TIPS.
